Proper waterproofing prevents costly water damage, mould growth and structural problems. Licensed
waterproofers apply membrane systems to bathrooms, showers, balconies, laundries and other wet areas
to keep water where it belongs. Post your job on The Quote Yard and protect your property.
Yes. The Building Code of Australia requires waterproofing in all wet areas including bathrooms,
showers, laundries and balconies. Work must comply with AS 3740 and be done by a licensed applicator
who provides a compliance certificate.
How do I know if my shower is leaking?
Signs include damp or discoloured patches on walls or ceilings below the bathroom, musty smells,
peeling paint, loose tiles or grout, and water stains. Even small leaks cause significant damage
over time if not addressed.
Can a leaking shower be fixed without removing tiles?
Sometimes. Sealant-based repairs and grout sealing can fix minor leaks. However, if the membrane
has failed, tiles usually need to be removed and new waterproofing applied. A waterproofer can
assess and recommend the best approach.
How long does waterproofing take to cure?
Most membrane systems require 24-48 hours to cure before tiling can begin. The waterproofer applies
multiple coats with drying time between each. Rushing this process can compromise the membrane's
effectiveness.
